| The palomar knot offers excellent knot strength, especially for situations where light line is the norm. This knot is great when using spinning tackle and lines under 10 pound strength. It's not bad for 30 pound line on your Flippin Stick, too! |
Start by passing the line through the hook eye in one direction and bringing it right back through the eye in the opposite direction. This forms a double line passing through the eye, with a loop extending out to one side.
| Now take the formed loop and, keeping the hook or lure dangling in the middle, tie an overhand knot in the line. DO NOT TIGHTEN IT. |
 | Pull the loop through far enough to make a loop large enough to pass the hook or lure through. |
| Wet the line to reduce friction and pull the line tight by pulling both the main line and the tag end. Cut off the tag and you are ready fish! |
