American Bass Anglers, Inc. Draw Tournament Circuit, Virginia Districts

ABA Insurance Requirement

Effective with the 2003 season, all members are required to show proof of insurance.

The rule reads:

DURING THE OFFICIAL PRACTICE AND COMPETITION DAYS OF AN American Bass Anglers TOURNAMENT, NO COMPETITOR MAY OPERATE A BOAT UNLESS THAT CONTESTANT HAS DOCUMENTED PROOF OF A MINIMUM OF $100,000 BOATING LIABILITY INSURANCE ON THAT PARTICULAR BOAT. PROOF OF INSURANCE MUST BE WITH THE BOAT BEING USED AND MUST COVER THE COMPETITOR USING THAT BOAT. RANDOM CHECKS WILL BE CONDUCTED.  EACH POLICY MUST SHOW $100,000 LIABILITY AND VALID EXPIRATION DATE.

What this means:

1. You must have adequate liability insurance in effect for all tournaments
2.  You must have proof of it with you for all tournaments
3.  You will be checked for that proof.

How will we assure compliance?

1.  Bring the cover letter with you to all tournaments, the front page that shows your coverage limits and a valid expiration date.  THE POLICY MUST BE IN YOUR NAME AND COVER THE SPECIFIC BOAT YOU WILL USE FOR THE EVENT.

What happens if you do not have the proof with you?

YOU WILL BE TURNED AWAY FROM ANY TOURNAMENT IF ASKED FOR YOUR INSURANCE VERIFICATION AND YOU DO NOT HAVE IT WITH YOU.

CHECKS WILL BEGIN AT THE MARCH 15 EVENT ON BUGGS ISLAND.

To save time and hassles at the ramp, you can E-MAIL or fax a copy of your declarations page to me.  FAX 757-229-5407
