Pro's Soft Bait Glue®

I spent the weekend working the local bass show for our district sponsor, Pop's Marine. And, while I was somewhat disappointed with the show itself - few vendors and very few new and innovative products - I did come away with an appreciation of a couple of new products. One of these is Pro's Soft Bait Glue®. They are not a sponsor of the district and I am not on their pro staff, their impressive product simply works as advertised!

This isn't your dad's old super glue! Pro Staffer Al Pugh was demonstrating the product, and not in the typical snake-oil salesman fashion. He used several baits to show how effectively Soft Bait Glue welds the broken and torn baits back together. He even cut a vacuum cleaner belt and welded it back with the glue. Despite about thirty welded cuts in the belt I was not able to pull it apart.

Then he picked up one of my favorite baits, a plastic stick bait. You know the bait - a fantastic fish catching bait that really works! $6 for a 10 count bag of baits that are good for about 20 minutes each, or less when you catch fish. In fact if you are catching fish on them they are usually good for only one fish, maybe two if you're holding your mouth right! But they do indeed catch fish, so most of us consider them well worth the expense.

Well the economics of fishing just got better! Al cut one in half, placed a drop of Pro's Soft Bait Glue® on one piece, recapped the bottle and spoke for about twenty seconds and then pieced the two sections back together. His point was that you don't have to be in a hurry. Soft Bait Glue is not like super glue that cures in the presence of air. In fact removing the air from the seam is part of the curative process. Take your time, put the bait together the way you want it and get on with your fishing.

I will be using Pro's Soft Bait Glue® this season and will be glad to give you an update on its performance. Just ask me at one of our tournaments. The best thing I can see about it is that I will be able to use the entire bottle. You've all had a bottle of super glue that you opened for a specific use. You put the cap back on just right and stored it out of the heat, etc. A couple weeks later you go back to it and voila - hard as a rock! Off to the store for another $5.00 bottle of it only to have the same thing happen all over again. Pro's Soft Bait Glue® does not cure in air so it is much less likely to become part of the "like a rock" team.
